Product Overview
316L Stainless Steel Elbows are premium-grade pipe fittings designed for changing pipeline direction in demanding industrial systems. Manufactured from high-quality 316L stainless steel (UNS S31603 / EN 1.4404), these elbows feature superior corrosion resistance, excellent mechanical strength, and outstanding weldability — making them the preferred choice for marine, pharmaceutical, chemical, and food-processing industries.
Also known as SS 316L Elbow, AISI 316L Elbow, 316L Pipe Elbow, Marine-Grade Stainless Elbow, or Low-Carbon 316 Elbow, our 316L elbows are engineered to deliver reliable performance in chloride-rich and highly corrosive environments where standard grades like 304 would fail prematurely.
The “L” designation indicates low carbon content (≤ 0.03%), providing exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion (sensitization) after welding, making 316L elbows ideal for welded piping systems in the most challenging service conditions.
What is 316L Stainless Steel?
316L stainless steel is a low-carbon variant of the 316 grade, belonging to the austenitic stainless steel family. Its key distinguishing feature is the addition of 2-3% molybdenum, which dramatically enhances its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion — especially in chloride-containing environments such as seawater, brine, and acidic solutions.
Compared to 304 stainless steel, 316L offers significantly better performance in:
- Seawater and marine environments
- Chloride solutions and acidic media
- Sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid service
- High-temperature steam and exhaust applications
With its superior corrosion resistance and enhanced mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, 316L stainless steel is the industry standard for critical applications where failure is not an option.
Key Features & Advantages
- Molybdenum-Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: 2-3% Mo content provides exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC)
- Low-Carbon for Welding: Carbon ≤ 0.03% prevents carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion in weld heat-affected zones (HAZ)
- Superior High-Temperature Performance: Retains mechanical strength at temperatures up to 800°C in intermittent service, 550°C in continuous service
- Excellent Bio-Compatibility: Non-toxic, non-reactive — safe for pharmaceutical, medical, and food-contact applications
- Smooth Hygiene Surface: Mirror-polished inner wall prevents bacterial adhesion; ideal for CIP/SIP systems
- Full Range of Configurations: 45°, 90° Short Radius (SR), 90° Long Radius (LR), 135°, and 180° Return bends
